About Single Cell Protein
Single-cell protein (SCP), derived from microorganisms such as yeasts and bacteria, represents a promising alternative to traditional protein sources.
Advantages for SCP Production:
- Sustainability: Using C. glutamicum for SCP production from renewable resources (like plant by-product or other carbon-rich substrates) is an environmentally friendly option. It is a promising alternative to traditional animal proteins, especially considering concerns about resource use, greenhouse gas emissions, and land degradation from livestock farming.
- Low Cost: The bacterium’s ability to utilize inexpensive raw materials can make SCP production more cost-effective.
- Nutritional: Our Single Cell Protein is a 71% protein meal. It is a by-product of amino-acids production from Corynebacterium Glutamicum. Our SCP has an excellent amino acid profile, with Threonine level > 12 % and rich of nucleotides that improve the development of the intestinal tract and its microflora. Nucleotides are essential for several physiological functions, such as DNA and RNA synthesis, cellular metabolism, and energy transfer (e.g., ATP). In the context of human or animal nutrition, nucleotides play roles in gut health, immune function, and tissue repair. They can act as growth-promoting factors, particularly for rapidly growing cells like those in the gut or immune system.
